Home Coming/Black History
On Friday, February 20, 2026, Monarch Lodge No. 73, under the leadership of Worshipful Master Taj A. Reid, hosted its annual PM Anthony W. Hilliard Jr. Homecoming and Black History Month Program at the Masonic Co-operative Hall on 30th Street. And our Junior Warden Marlon Fernandez saw the evening to fruition.
PM Edward Kimble introduced visiting dignitaries, including representatives from the Grand Lodge and the Golden State Grand Chapter, and delivered a compelling history of the PM Anthony W. Hilliard Jr. Homecoming. His reflections underscored the weight and meaning of being a “Monarch Man”.
Senior Deacon Taoroam Kingston was honored with the Plumbline Award. Senior Warden James Stephens Jr. stirred the audience with a moving rendition of the Black National Anthem. The keynote address was delivered by Ahmad Anderson, Mayoral Candidate for the city of Richmond, whose passionate remarks left the audience both inspired.
Senior Warden Stephens offered closing reflections on the evening’s significance, while JW Fernandez expressed gratitude to The Friends of Hoover Durant Library, particularly Alternier Baker Cook, daughter of our founder, PM M. Robinson Baker, and acknowledged Worthy Matron Leah Hunter of Regina Chapter No.67 & members for their continued partnership. Worshipful Master Taj A. Reid concluded the program by reminding all in attendance that their presence and participation are essential to securing a brighter and more purposeful tomorrow.
